Folsom Lake might be our primary water source, but diversifying our supply is essential for long-term resilience—and Roseville’s groundwater program is making impressive strides.

Last year, we introduced two new Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) wells in West Roseville. These wells add to the constellation of existing facilities, allowing us to capture and store water underground during wetter periods and providing a critical backup during droughts and dry summers.

In 2023 alone, our ASR wells stored 2,134 acre-feet of water—enough to supply over 6,400 households. That's a massive leap from the 96 acre-feet stored in 2022. Previously to those years, we’ve also replenished the groundwater basin using other available surface water resources.

“Our groundwater program is critical in diversifying Roseville’s water sources and ensuring long-term water supply reliability,” said Environmental Utilities Director Sean Bigley. “By capturing and storing water underground, we're better prepared for droughts, helping maintain healthy ecosystems and a resilient community.”

While we haven't banked any groundwater yet in 2025, our system is ready and waiting for the next above-average rainy season. Roseville continues expanding its groundwater well network to strengthen this readiness and enhance water supply reliability, supported by an $8 million grant from the California Natural Resources Agency and Department of Water Resources.

Mark your calendars, starting Monday, April 21, Roseville Transit is launching Commuter improvements as part of the first phase of changes following the Transportation 360 master plan adoption.

There will be new service from park and ride locations at Taylor Road (Sunsplash), Mahany Park, Saugstad Park, and expanded service to the May Lee State Office Complex in Sacramento. Riders should plan ahead for the following route changes:

- Routes 1, 5, and 7 will serve Taylor Road and I-80 and Saugstad Park. - Routes 3 and 9 will serve only at Taylor Road and I-80. - Routes 2, 4, and 6 will serve Mahany Park and Foothills and Junction Boulevard. - Reverse Commute will be discontinued to improve operational and cost efficiencies.

The day will be filled with thrilling competitions unlike anything you’ve seen before. Lineworkers from public power utilities across the nation attend this epic event every year and compete in a series of contests designed to test their technical skills, safety practices, and teamwork. From challenging timed events to demonstrations of everyday tasks, the rodeo is a unique opportunity to watch the incredible skill and daring dedication it takes to be a lineworker.

“We are honored to host this year’s rodeo and excited to welcome lineworkers, their families, and public power supporters from around the country to Roseville,” said Dan Beans, CEO of Roseville Electric Utility. “We have planned a rodeo like none other before, and we can’t wait to see it come to life for our community, our visitors, and the courageous lineworkers who put it all on the line for us every day.”

@the Grounds will be transformed into a hub of energy and excitement, with activities and exhibits for all ages. In addition to the competitions, attendees can enjoy the family funfair (complete with bounce houses, petting zoo, train rides and more!), food vendors, and locally sponsored exhibits. ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Pleasant Grove Apartments, an affordable housing complex, is opening this fall in Roseville.

Pleasant Grove Apartments is aimed at lower-income families in the community. It will be a 49-unit, three-story complex with one to three-bedroom units, a community clubhouse, gathering spaces, resident services, offices, laundry rooms and bike parking services.

Mercy Housing California (MHC) is the property's developer and managing agent with Eskaton owning the land. MCH is a leading affordable housing nonprofit serving 159 properties across 36 counties in California. The organization works with low and very low income families, seniors, people with disabilities, people who experience homelessness and who are living with HIV/AIDS.

“Rents are structured to be affordable to low-income families and generally do not exceed 30% of household income. An allowance is also provided for tenant-paid utilities,” said Regional Vice President of Philanthropy, Rick Sprague. “Eight of the units will be reserved for project-based Housing Choice Voucher applicants referred by the Roseville Housing Authority.”

The project cost $33 million and was partially funded by Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, the City of Roseville, Century Housing and a land contribution from Eskaton. Mercy Housing will start accepting pre-applications in late April and hopes to move residents in late September.

It's been a long time coming as the project was approved by the Roseville Planning Commission back in March 2021. At the time, construction was expected to begin at the end of 2022, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.

Pleasant Grove Apartments are located at 1715 Pleasant Grove Blvd., near the recently opened West Roseville Marketplace and CVS.
